This year’s Kickoff Classic will be using a new format.  Each of the 12 teams will be placed in a group with two other teams – creating 4 groups of three teams each.    Each team will play the other two teams in their group.  The team with the best record in each group will advance to the semi-finals of the tournament.

Important Notes:

  • While each team only has to referee one game, they are responsible for providing all 4 referees for the game.  Please make sure that you will have 4 referees available for your time slot.   These referees do NOT need to be certified by CAN.  However, teams are strongly encouraged to send at least two certified referees to cover their slots.  ALL potential referees should review the 2007 CAN rules prior to the tournament (it was a long summer).

  • The team with the best record in each group will be declared the group winner.   In the event of a 3-way tie in the group, the following tiebreakers will be used in order:
    • Fewest points allowed in both games played.
    • Largest point differential (points scored minus points allowed) over both games played.
