The Syracuse University Alumni Club of Washington, DC invites you to a night at Nationals Park on Saturday, July 31st starting at 5:30 p.m. This event includes a pre-game Q & A at the ballpark with Phillies beat writer Matt Gelb (SU Class of 2009) followed by the Nats v. Phillies game.

SUinDC has reserved a block of seats for this matchup at discounted prices for Syracuse alumni members. Take this opportunity to cheer for the Nats with fellow SU grads, and hear first-hand from Matt about covering his hometown baseball team.

Matt Gelb, the Phillies beat writer for The Philadelphia Inquirer, will meet with alumni club members inside the ballpark prior to the game for a question and answer session. Gelb is in his first season covering the Phillies and was hired by The Philadelphia Inquirer in August 2009 after graduating from Syracuse University. He also interned at The Inquirer in 2008 and has covered just about every sport for the paper.

Tickets are ($16) for SU alumni club members and family, and ($18) for non-members. Tickets must be purchased by July 28.

The talk with Matt Gelb will start at 5:30pm. We will provide directions to the exact area of the Q&A to those who purchase tickets to the event. Please note, Matt Gelb's talk is subject to cancellation, should there be a major breaking baseball news event that day.
