Syracuse Alumni Club of DC competes regularly in the Capital Alumni Network (CAN) sports leagues (www.dcalum.org) – CAN organizes Co-Ed sports leagues matching local alumni clubs/associations against each other. CAN Sports leagues are based on seasons. However, many of the coaches/teams play in other leagues both in and out of the CAN seasonal schedule. For more information on a specific team, please contact the coach listed. The following is the general CAN schedule for sports leagues in which the Syracuse Alumni Club of Washigton, D.C. regularly participates:

Football The football season starts with practices in August and games from September - November. Head Coach: Doug Smith (DSmith2@kforce.com) Golf CAN usually runs a charity golf tournament (4 alumni teams, best ball) each summer.

Softball The league starts in April and runs through August. Head Coach: Marc Beckel (mrbeckel@aol.com) Soccer (7 on 7) The Syracuse Alumni Club of DC will be, again, participating in the Capital Alumni Network (CAN) 7-on-7 co-ed soccer league this Spring. The schedule will be announced shortly, but games are expected to start around mid-April, all games are weekends and will be played in Washington DC, fields are also TBD. If you are interested in playing soccer with fellow alumni, please contact the Syracuse Soccer coach, Matt Van Waes, at: mtvanwaes@hotmail.com Team notes: There are a total of 8 games for the season plus an end of season tournament. Player fees are $25 for club members.

Volleyball The Club is looking into other Non-CAN volleyball leagues for the winter. The Alumni Club has also participated in other sports related events: • Broomball vs. a local alumni club, on Verizon Center ice after Washington Capitals hockey game. • Providing support at water stations for the Washington DC Marathon
