SUinDC Sports League Information


Syracuse Alumni Club of DC competes regularly in the Capital Alumni Network (CAN)sports leagues ( – CAN organizes Co-Ed sports leagues matching local alumni clubs/associations against each other.

CAN Sports leagues are based on seasons. However, many of the coaches/teams play in other leagues both in and out of the CAN seasonal schedule. For more information on a specific team, please contact the coach listed.

The following is the general CAN schedule for sports leagues in which the Syracuse Alumni Club of Washington, D.C. regularly participates:


The season starts with practices inAugust and games onSaturdays/Sundays beginning inmid-September. We play a tengame regular season, and theplayoffs begin in early December.

The 2012 softball season will start April and run through July, with the end of the season tournament the weekend days of 11, 12, and 18th of Aug. Practices will begin in March. If interested in joing the softball team, please contact Head Coach: Marc Beckel (

Soccer (11 on 11)

This 2014 season we will be playing in the CAN 11-on-11 co-ed soccer league for the Spring. The season starts in April 6th and runs through June, with all games played on Sundays at McKinley Technical High School. The CAN charity golf tournament (best ball) is scheduled for May 10th at Andrews AFB. If interested in putting together a 4 person team, please contact Marc Beckel (


In the past, the alumni club has participated in other sports events, such as a Broomball game vs. another local alumni club, on Verizon Center ice after a Washington Capitals hockey game. If you have any interest in helping put together a co-ed alumni sports team not listed here, please let us know.
