Syracuse Alumni Club of DC competes regularly in the Capital Alumni Network (CAN) sports leagues (www.dcalum.org) – CAN organizes Co-Ed sports leagues matching local alumni clubs/associations against each other. CAN Sports leagues are based on seasons. However, many of the coaches/teams play in other leagues both in and out of the CAN seasonal schedule. For more information on a specific team, please contact the coach listed. The following is the general CAN schedule for sports leagues in which the Syracuse Alumni Club of Washington, D.C. regularly participates:

Football The season starts with practices in August and games on Saturdays/Sundays beginning in mid-September. We play a ten game regular season, and the playoffs begin in early December. For more information, please contact head coach Justin Wein (jaw1282@gmail.com).

Softball The league started in April and runs through July, with the end of the season tournament the weekend days of 6,7, and 13th of Aug. This season marks the return of the annual NY state cup (competition between alumni clubs of Syracuse, Cornell, and St Bonaventure). Head Coach: Marc Beckel (mrbeckel@aol.com) Golf The CAN charity golf tournament (best ball) is scheduled for 14 May. Soccer (11 on 11) This season we have moved up to the CAN 11-on-11 co-ed soccer league for the Spring. The season started in early April and runs through July. Volleyball The Club is looking into other Non-CAN volleyball leagues for the winter. If anyone has any interest or recommendations for a league, please contact the Club's Director of Athletics Marc Beckel (mrbeckel@aol.com). Basketball League starts in January and concludes in March. For three straight years the alumni club has played a Broomball game vs. a local alumni club (Ohio State and Michigan State), on Verizon Center ice after a Washington Capitals hockey game. We will look to continue this game during the Caps 2011-2012 season.
